At Santhosha Vidhyalaya, true to its name, happiness permeates the atmosphere.
Gladness encompasses every person that enters Santhosha Vidhyalaya campus.
So much so, that our introduction about the school spells GLAD.
GENESIS & GROWTH: Santhosha Vidhyalaya was established in 1982, as God willed, in response to the prayers of missionaries who faced severe difficulties in educating their children in the mission fields where they were working. Santhosha Educational Society which runs Santhosha Vidhyalaya was started by a team of men and women who were prompted by the Holy Spirit to provide first-rate educational facilities in a congenial atmosphere for the children of missionaries. Serving in remote mission fields where access to education was lacking and where the atmosphere was not conducive for the development of their children, missionaries and their supporters felt the need for a centralised educational facility. The residential school enables missionaries to continue their service, in the knowledge that their children are taken care of by loving staff members. Thus, started primarily for the children of missionaries, Santhosha Vidhyalaya believes in equality and equal opportunity and admits everyone who desires to be educated. Eventually the school was elevated into a Higher Secondary School in 1995-96.
LAURELS: The mission statement of the school is “To strive for academic excellence; nurturing godliness; moulding our children into responsible citizens of India, and enabling them to reach their full potential by providing a loving, congenial environment”. True to the statement, the school achieves 100% pass rate consistently in the 10th and 12th standard board examinations. The school stands 7th among the 163 schools in the Educational District and stands 71st among the 12,053 schools, as per the results of 10th standard public examination held in 2016. Santhosha Vidhyalaya students has historically exceled in sport winning medals and championships at the state-level. The school’s football team holds the bronze medal in the state level inter-school tournament in 2016.
AUGMENTING SKILLS: We believe in the overall development of children, so that they are on par with the rest when they pursue higher studies. To achieve this, we encourage students to participate in various co-curricular and extra- curricular activities of their choice, besides academics. Music is an integral part of all our activities. We organise various programs to enhance their soft skills. The school provides good amenities and infrastructure facilities such as a well-equipped library and laboratories for the children.
DESIDERATUM – An appeal: As most of our students are children of missionaries working in remote area, their education has been made possible, thanks to the generosity of many benefactors. As the number of students has increased and as we need to give them more input towards their overall development, our support base needs to be broadened. We hope you believe in the cause of educating our missionaries’ children. We have created a scholarship scheme in the name “Santhosha Scholarship Program”. We look forward to your generous support for this noble cause.
As part of this program, you can support a child’s education by donating funds monthly or yearly. We can guarantee you that 100% of the funds will go towards the education of the child. As the school is residential and the children board at the hostel premises for most part of the year, their expenses include food, boarding, tuition, toiletries, medical and other miscellaneous items.
